Week of 04/30/00
BAND: The Ataris
SONG: My So-Called Life
GENRE: Punk Pop
FROM: Santa Barbara, CA

Obsessed with Clare Danes? Well, take a listen to this one by Santa Barbara's, Ataris, and commisserate with them. Expect to hear their driving guitars on the radio shortly.

BAND: Damn Funkies
SONG: JB-Style (are u ready to blo?)
GENRE: Big Beat
FROM: Zurich, Switzerland

After hearing this song, I am convinced that the Damn Funkies should be spinning tracks at the Boutique alongside Norman Cook! This a true Big Beat standard.

BAND: Ebo
SONG: Rain Song
GENRE: Indie Rock
FROM: Fairfax, VA

This song is great and really shows off lead singer Dave Connelly's range and quest for vocal hooks. I also could have sworn I heard a Moog thrown in at the start of the song.

BAND: Loomer
SONG: Leave This World
GENRE: Shoegazer
FROM: San Francisco, CA

Fans of My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins, and the shoegazer scene of the late 80's will really appreciate this one. A beautiful, moody song that reminds me of my college years.

BAND: Deepsky
SONG: Stargazer
GENRE: Trance Beat
FROM: Los Angeles, CA

Deepsky has mastered the art of producing squelching synth noises from their 303. As the saying goes, everybody needs a 303 and this song affirms this notion.
